SIRE 2.0's guidance requires that if equipment must be introduced into a tank after an inert gas system failure and emergency precautions, this should happen "after at least 30 minutes after the injection of IG has stopped" with metal components "securely electrically earthed... for at least five hours after the injection of IG has stopped." Why are these two precautions on two different timescales (30 minutes vs. five hours) rather than a single combined waiting period?
