You are approaching the Dover Strait TSS heading east. Describe your obligations under Rule 10 and the STCW requirement for reporting.

A. Rule 10 requires: join and leave the traffic lane at the termination or as nearly parallel to the lane direction as practicable; avoid crossing lanes, but if you must cross, do so at right angles; a vessel less than 20m or a sailing vessel shall not impede a power-driven vessel using the traffic lane; vessels using the inshore zone shall not normally use the separation zone. MAREP/CALDOVREP cross-channel reporting is required when crossing the Dover Strait TSS.

B. Rule 10 permits vessels to navigate in any direction within the TSS provided they maintain a speed of at least 10 knots. Vessels under 20m are exempt from TSS obligations.

C. Rule 10 applies only to vessels crossing a TSS. Vessels proceeding through a TSS in the direction of the traffic flow are governed by Rule 9 (narrow channel) instead.

D. Rule 10 requires all vessels to maintain VHF watch on Channel 16 and report to the TSS VTS on entry to the traffic lane.
