The master has come to the bridge. Gyros 1 and 3 are now diverged by 7°. Gyro 1 reads 187°, Gyro 3 reads 194°. The DP system is using a weighted average and commanding what appears to be an unexplained small heading correction. Position is starting to drift slightly — 1.2m north of target. With 7° gyro divergence producing an active DP heading correction and position beginning to drift, what is the master's correct decision?
A. Immediately exclude all gyro inputs from the DP system and switch to manual joystick with compass bearing for heading reference, then increase standoff distance away from the rig. The DP system is now being commanded partly by erroneous heading data; removing the gyro input and taking manual control removes the erroneous force input
B. Wait for the Fanbeam position data to confirm the actual drift before acting — position data is more reliable than heading at this point
C. Attempt to determine which gyro is correct by comparing to the magnetic compass, then exclude the wrong one
D. Continue in DP auto — the position drift of 1.2m is within the yellow alert radius and the system should self-correct
