Revision card 14 of 16 — Boatmaster's Licence, Tier 1 Level 2 Underpinning Knowledge, MSN 1853 Annex 10. Essentially unchanged — the only real difference from Annex 9 is wording: Level 2 generalises to "regulations and guidance on risk assessment and other general duties under Health and Safety legislation" rather than naming the Code of Safe Working Practices for Merchant Seamen directly. The knowledge you need is the same.

• Working at height or outboard
• Planned maintenance systems for LSA (life-saving appliances) and FFA (fire-fighting appliances)
• Entry into and working in enclosed spaces
• Use of powered cleaning devices and hand/powered tools
• Operating lifting plant and slinging heavy equipment
• Use and storage of chemicals/hazardous materials
• Protective equipment and clothing
• Cargo access equipment
• Maintenance of batteries
• Noise and vibration exposure
